Fresh, fragrant, and full of flavour, these Thai Basil Beef Rolls are a light yet satisfying dish perfect for entertaining or a weekday dinner. Tender beef combined with aromatic Thai basil and crisp vegetables makes every bite vibrant and balanced.
Ingredients
• 500 g beef mince
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 small red chillies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 2 tbsp oyster sauce
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tsp fish sauce
• 1 tsp brown sugar
• 1 cup Thai basil leaves
• 8 large iceberg lettuce leaves (or cos lettuce)
• 1 carrot, julienned
• 1 cucumber, julienned
• Fresh lime wedges, to serve
Method
- Heat oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add garlic and chilli, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the beef mince, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 5–7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- Stir in oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Cook for 2 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Remove from the heat and stir through Thai basil leaves until just wilted.
- Lay lettuce leaves on a platter. Fill each with beef mixture, then top with carrot and cucumber.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges for squeezing.
