About Dental Implants

What Are Tooth Implants?

Tooth implants are titanium dental implants that serve as artificial tooth roots. These small titanium root fixtures are carefully placed into the jawbone during implant surgery. Once the implant fixture integrates with your bone, it provides a stable foundation for a dental crown, dental bridge, or dentures. When placed by a skilled dental professional, a complete dental restoration can function just like a natural tooth.

Why Choose Implant Dentistry on the Sunshine Coast?

Stability and Security

Implant-supported teeth stay firmly in place, which makes eating and speaking much easier. This secure fit helps your prosthetic tooth feel natural and comfortable in your mouth.

Preserve Your Jawbone

Missing teeth often lead to bone loss over time. Tooth replacement implants help maintain your jawbone structure, preventing the shrinking that commonly occurs when tooth roots are absent. In cases where bone loss has already occurred, bone grafting procedures can help prepare your jaw for successful implant placement.

Long-lasting Solution

Proper oral hygiene and regular dental care can help your tooth implants last a lifetime. This makes them an excellent investment in your oral health and quality of life.

Natural Feel and Function

Many patients find their dental prosthetic restorations more comfortable than conventional alternatives. They closely mimic natural tooth structure and can improve your chewing ability significantly.

Our Implant Services

Single Tooth Implants

Single tooth replacement is perfect when you need to replace just one missing tooth. After implant placement, we attach a custom dental crown that matches your existing teeth in both shape and colour. You can brush and floss around it just like your natural teeth, making oral hygiene simple.

Denture Implants

Struggling to keep your dentures in place? Implant-supported dentures could be your answer. Lower dentures can usually be stabilised with just 2 implants. Upper dentures may benefit from a precision bar system custom-designed and milled in titanium for optimal retention. These implant solutions dramatically improve your quality of life.

Full Arch Implants

Full mouth dental implants can replace an entire set of upper or lower teeth with permanently fixed restorations. A complete arch typically needs 4 to 8 implants, depending on your individual case. Some situations allow for teeth in a day, where temporary teeth can be placed immediately. Other cases may require a staged approach for the best results. Our full mouth dental implants Sunshine Coast patients receive are designed using advanced 3D scan technology for precise guided implant placement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits help implants last a lifetime. The dental crown or restoration attached to the implant may need replacement after 10-15 years. The implant fixture itself typically remains stable indefinitely.

Most patients report that the discomfort is less than they expected. Local anaesthetic is used during the procedure. For patients who feel anxious, we also offer sedation dentistry and can discuss general anaesthetic options for more complex implant surgeries. Any post-operative discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. We’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions to help ensure your comfort during healing.

The timeline varies depending on your individual case. Simple cases may be completed in a few months. More complex situations requiring procedures like bone grafting, sinus lift, or treatment for gum disease may take longer. We’ll provide you with a realistic timeline during your consultation.

Age alone is rarely a barrier to implant treatment. Your overall health and the condition of your jawbone matter more. We’ve successfully placed implants in patients well into their 80s and 90s.

Yes, modern tooth replacement solutions are designed to look and feel like natural teeth. The dental crowns are custom-made to match your existing teeth in colour, shape, and size. Most people won’t be able to tell the difference between your implant and natural teeth.

Caring for implants is similar to caring for natural teeth. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential for good oral hygiene. We may recommend specific cleaning tools or techniques to help maintain your implants long-term and prevent gum disease.

Our dental practice provides comprehensive dental care beyond implant surgeries. We handle dental emergencies, wisdom teeth removal, dental extraction, and various dental restoration procedures. Whether you need a simple dental crown or a full-mouth restoration, our dental professional team is here to help.
