Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions cover two things: how this website may be used, and how fees, quotes, health fund rebates, government schemes and any offers work at Currey & Jorgensen Dentistry. They apply to every fee or offer mentioned anywhere on this website, in our practice or in our advertising. They sit alongside ourPrivacy Policy, ourPayment Terms Policy, which covers how and when accounts are paid, and ourwebsite disclaimer.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Currey & Jorgensen Dentistry, and “you” means the person using this website or receiving our services.
Part one: using this website
Acceptance of these terms
By using this website you agree to these terms and conditions, together with our Privacy Policy and website disclaimer. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website. This website is intended for adults. Information about cosmetic dental treatment is intended for people aged 18 and over.
Changes to these terms
We may change, add to or remove parts of these terms at any time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated, and we will highlight significant changes where we can. Continuing to use the website after a change means you accept the updated terms, so please check this page from time to time.
Information on this website
The information on this website is general in nature. It is not dental or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for an examination and consultation with a registered dental practitioner. We take care to keep it accurate and up to date, but it may contain errors or omissions, and it is your responsibility to check that any information, product or service meets your needs before relying on it. Every dental treatment carries risks and benefits, and results vary between patients. Our Treatment Risks page explains this in detail, and nothing on this website is a guarantee of any outcome.
Liability and the Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that services will be provided with due care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees or any other right you have under the law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from your use of this website, from errors or omissions in the information on it, or from your reliance on that information without a consultation.
Links and information from other websites
This website links to other websites, such as health fund, government scheme and payment provider sites, for your convenience. A link does not mean we sponsor, endorse or have an arrangement with the owner of that site, and we are not responsible for its content. Where this website carries information supplied by a third party, such as a scheme benefit or a provider’s terms, that information is the third party’s and we accept no responsibility for it. Please check any third-party information with the organisation that supplied it.
Your privacy
We respect the privacy and confidentiality of the information you give us and handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not sell personal information. We may use de-identified information to understand how the website is used and to improve our services. We may be required to disclose information where the law or a court requires it, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our patients, our team or others. Credit card details are not stored on our servers. OurPrivacy Policy sets this out in full, and you can ask us to update your details at any time by email.
Copyright and use of content
The content of this website, including its design, layout, text, images and logos, is owned by or licensed to us. You may print or download extracts for your own personal, non-commercial use, and share them with individuals for their personal use, as long as you acknowledge this website as the source. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute or commercially use any of the content, including for the purpose of providing similar services, without our written permission.
Governing law
These terms and this website are governed by the laws of Queensland and the Commonwealth of Australia. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that part is removed and the rest continues to apply. Together with our Privacy Policy and website disclaimer, these terms are the whole agreement between you and us about your use of this website.
Part two: fees, quotes and offers
This part applies to every fee or offer mentioned anywhere on this website, in our practice or in our advertising, and to the treatment we provide.
Fees shown on this website
- Any fee shown on this website is a guide only and is current as at the date shown on this page. Fees can change.
- The fee that applies to you is the one in your written itemised quote, provided after your consultation.
- Fees depend on the treatment recommended for you, the number of teeth involved, the materials used and the time required. Two patients having what sounds like the same treatment can receive different quotes.
- Treatment is only provided where it is clinically suitable and appropriate for you. A fee being listed does not mean a treatment is right for every patient.
- Additional treatment may be recommended once your dentist has examined you or once treatment is under way. Any additional treatment and its cost will be discussed with you and agreed before it is carried out.
- Where a fee on any page of this website differs from the fee on this page or in your quote, your written quote applies.
Your itemised quote
After your consultation you will receive a written and/or verbal quote that lists each item of treatment, its item number and its fee. It is provided before any treatment starts so that you have time to consider it, check your health fund rebate and, if you wish, seek a second opinion.
- A quote is valid for from the date it is issued, unless it states otherwise.
- A quote is based on the treatment plan as described at the time. If the plan changes, for example because a tooth turns out to need a crown rather than a filling, a revised quote will be provided and agreed with you before the changed treatment proceeds.
- A quote is not a guarantee that a treatment will succeed. Every dental treatment carries risks, and further treatment carries a further cost. Our Treatment Risks page explains this in detail.
- Emergency treatment may need to begin before a full quote can be prepared. In that case we will tell you the expected cost of the emergency visit before we start, and provide a full quote for any follow-up treatment afterwards.
Payment
Payment for treatment is required on the day of service. We accept cash, debit card, Mastercard, Visa and American Express. We do not accept cheques. Direct deposit is available only by prior agreement. Full details, including what happens with outstanding accounts, are in ourPayment Terms Policy.
Health fund rebates
- We can process most health fund claims on the spot through HICAPS or TYRO, so you pay only the gap on the day.
- We have no control over what your health fund pays towards your treatment. What your fund pays is between you and your fund. Rebates vary between funds, between levels of cover and between item numbers, and some items receive no rebate.
- We are not a preferred provider for any health fund. Our fees are set by the practice, not by a fund, so your rebate may differ from what your fund pays at a preferred provider.
- Please check your cover, annual limits and waiting periods with your fund before treatment. Your written itemised quote has the item numbers your fund needs to give you an accurate rebate estimate.
- You are responsible for paying your account whether or not your fund contributes, and if a claim cannot be processed on the day for technical or other reasons, payment is still required in full and you claim from your fund afterwards.
Third-party payment arrangements
Third-party payment arrangements may be available for some treatments, subject to the provider’s eligibility criteria, approval and terms and conditions.
- The provider, not Currey & Jorgensen Dentistry, sets the eligibility criteria, fees, charges, interest and repayment terms and decides whether to approve an application. We are not a credit provider and we do not give financial advice.
- Treatment recommendations are based on clinical assessment and suitability. Whether a payment arrangement is available has no bearing on what treatment we recommend, and we will never suggest proceeding with treatment because finance is available.
- If a provider does not pay us on your behalf, you remain responsible for paying your account.
Government schemes
Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
- The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a Services Australia program. Eligibility is set by Services Australia, not by us. The cap is indexed and the amount available depends on when your child’s period started.
- We can check eligibility and the remaining balance for you with your child’s Medicare card, or you can check through myGov.
- The schedule covers general dental services such as examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, root canals and extractions. Cosmetic and orthodontic treatments are not covered.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)
- Gold and White Repatriation Card holders are eligible for dental treatment under the DVA Dental Schedule. We bulk bill DVA card holders for most dental treatments and claim directly from DVA.
- Gold and White card holders are eligible for different treatments. The DVA schedule has annual monetary limits, pre-approval requirements for some services and minimum intervals between some services. Where a treatment is not covered, or approval is declined, you will be told before treatment and the fee will be your responsibility.
- For details, visit theDepartment of Veterans’ Affairs website.
Club mouthguard pricing
- Custom mouthguards are available at a club price for registered Sunshine Coast Rugby Union and Sunshine Coast Hockey players.
- Club pricing applies to a standard custom mouthguard. Mouthguards made to fit over braces or other appliances may be quoted separately.
- Where a health fund rebate is available, the rebate is claimed against the full price and you pay any remaining gap up to the club price.
- A mouthguard is designed to reduce the risk of dental injury. No mouthguard prevents all injuries, and it must be worn as directed and replaced when it no longer fits.
Trade marks and products
Implant systems, aligner systems, whitening products and dental materials are regulated therapeutic goods. Any brand named on this website is a registered trade mark of its manufacturer. Currey & Jorgensen Dentistry is an independent practice and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting as an agent of any manufacturer. Treatment decisions are made by your treating dentist based on your clinical needs. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
