Denture Options We Provide
The right denture depends on how many teeth are missing, the condition of your gums and jawbone, and how you want the result to look and feel. At your consultation we examine your mouth, talk through each option in plain English, and give you a written quote before anything goes ahead.
Full dentures
A complete replacement for all teeth in the upper or lower arch, custom made to match your face, gum shade and natural smile line. Modern full dentures are designed tooth by tooth, so the result looks like your own teeth rather than a set from a catalogue.
Partial dentures
When you still have healthy natural teeth, a partial denture fills the gaps and clips discreetly to the teeth around them. Partials restore chewing, stop neighbouring teeth drifting into the space, and can be added to later if your needs change.

How Getting New Dentures Works
Step 1: Consultation and examination
We assess your teeth, gums and any existing dentures, discuss what you want from the result, and recommend the options that suit your mouth. Your initial examination is $90, or $128 for a more complex initial examination, with an OPG x-ray $160 where needed.
Step 2: Impressions and design
Precise impressions and measurements are taken so your denture matches your bite, facial shape and tooth shade. For many patients there’s a try-in stage, so you can see the denture before it’s finished.
Step 3: Fitting
Your new dentures are fitted and fine-tuned for comfort. We show you how to insert, remove and clean them, and what to expect while you adjust to eating and speaking.
Step 4: Follow-up and ongoing denture care
Sore spots and small pressure points are normal early on, and small adjustments make a big difference. We book review appointments to refine the fit, and provide ongoing denture care on the Sunshine Coast including relines, repairs and replacements as your mouth changes over time.
Why Have Your Dentures Made at CJ Dentistry
- A dental practice, not just a denture clinic: our dentists manage your whole mouth, so extractions, gum health and denture design are planned together rather than in isolation.
- Decades of local care: Sunshine Coast families have come to our Alexandra Headland practice for decades, and many denture patients started as general check-up patients.
- Implant capability in-house: if an implant-retained denture suits you, surgical placement and the final denture happen under one roof.
- Transparent costs: a clear written quote for your situation before treatment starts, with payment options discussed up front.
How Much Do Dentures Cost on the Sunshine Coast?
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do new dentures take to get used to?
Most patients need a few weeks to adjust to eating and speaking with new dentures. Starting with softer foods, cutting food smaller and practising reading aloud all help. Sore spots in the first weeks are common and usually fixed with a small adjustment, so keep your review appointments rather than putting up with discomfort.
Should I sleep with my dentures in?
In most cases, no. Removing dentures overnight rests your gums and lets you clean the denture properly, which lowers the risk of gum irritation and fungal infections. Your dentist may recommend wearing an immediate denture overnight initially after extractions; follow the specific advice given at your fitting.
How often should dentures be replaced or relined?
Gums and jawbone change shape gradually, so a denture that fit well can loosen over time. Many dentures benefit from a reline every couple of years and replacement after about five to ten years, though it varies from person to person. If your denture rocks, rubs or needs adhesive to stay put, book an assessment.
What's the difference between a denture clinic and getting dentures at a dental practice?
A denture clinic run by a dental prosthetist focuses on making and fitting dentures. At a dental practice like CJ Dentistry, dentists also manage the teeth and gums around the denture, handle extractions, and can offer implant-retained options, so the denture is planned as part of your overall oral health rather than on its own.
Can I get dentures fitted the same day my teeth are removed?
Often, yes. Immediate dentures are made from impressions taken before your extractions and fitted at the same appointment the teeth are removed. They’ll usually need adjusting or relining as your gums heal and change shape over the following months, which we plan for from the start.
Are implant-retained dentures worth it?
For many patients who struggle with loose lower dentures, implant retention noticeably improves chewing and confidence. It costs more and involves a surgical procedure with its own risks and healing time, so suitability depends on your bone volume and general health. A consultation and imaging will tell you whether it’s a sound option for you.
